What a weekend we had! Saturday, Chad took Leighton to meet his parents, Fara, and Fara's boyfriend Pete in Schulenburg, which is right about halfway between San Antonio and Houston. Fara and Pete left yesterday to go back to Portugal, so they wanted to say goodbye to the baby. I just didn't have it in me for the road trip after going to Austin last weekend, so I stayed here with my mom. I actually cried when Chad left with Leighton. That's the longest I've been away from her since she was born. So funny...I packed Chad's "Diaper Dude" full of everything I thought he could possibly need for the few hours he would be away. I thought of everything! Then about 30 minutes after he left, Chad called and said not one burp cloth made it in the bag. OOPS! Leighton is a huge spitter, so that is a bit of a setback. But they made it. It sounds like they had a great time. I'm trying to get Chad to blog himself, so maybe he can tell you about it. I do know he came back with these two SWEET pictures of Fara saying goodbye to Leighton. They melt my heart. Obviously Leighton loves her aunt!

My mom and I went shopping and then had a lovely lunch and came home and took naps. So it was a nice break from Leighton, but I sure was happy when Chad came back home with her. My dad came up Saturday and spent the night and left early Sunday, but it was nice to see him. It's always fun to get Baby Leighton and Big Leighton in the same room. Although, for the record, still no confusion on which Leighton we are talking to!!

Last night my mom watched Leighton while Chad and I went to see Baby Mama. Funny movie, by the way. You would have thought I'd been on a deserted island for all these months. I about lost my mind at the concession stand and pigged out on a hot dog, popcorn, Mr. Pibb, and chocolate covered gummy bears. I thought I was going to be sick. But it was fun to get out and have a few laughs. I got home to this:

Leighton was a good girl for my mom and slept most of the evening. My mom left today. I cried! I love having her here and I just sat here in shock this morning as she raced around doing a million things to help us before she left. Thanks momma! Come back soon!

We've had these lovies for Leighton since she was born, but she's finally starting to grab them, which is fun. Here she is with her kitty:

So this is strange. Leighton just suddenly out of nowhere does not want her pacifier anymore. I have been thinking of all sorts of clever ways the "paci fairy" was going to have to come in a few years to take it away from her, but it looks like we aren't going to need her. I guess this is a good thing. Leighton sure enjoys sucking on her fingers now that she's able to get them to her mouth. So I'll be watching to see if she ends up wanting it again. (And I had just upgraded her from her green newborn pacifier to a cuter pink one, darn it!)
Leighton has been making some WONDERFUL new noises...I'm working on posting my first video to the blog so you can see her live! Stay tuned!
