0 Georgia's First Day

We've had a lot of action over here the past week! Georgia's first day of preschool as an Orange Butterfly (just like Leighton...and has the same teachers that we love) was last Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was the same time as Leighton's meet-the-teacher at her school. So Chad took Georgia and I took Leighton. Sniff sniff...I missed out on getting Georgia ready and seeing her off. On that same note, Chad got her ready for school. Was the functionally dressed and ready for school? Yes. However...had I been there, I might have brushed and styled her hair, and I might have used our camera and not a cell phone for the pictures. Other than that, he did a great job! She looks pretty happy, doesn't she?

0 Poo poo party

Georgia is finally fully potty trained! She went the whole summer going poop in her pull-ups...which she wore basically at night and nap times. That smart kid would wait until those times to poop. At last, about two weeks before school started, she got on board and started pooping on the toilet. Yippee! We've been having loads of poo poo parties around here! She also decided she wanted to wear panties to bed at night, which has resulted in her wetting the bed twice this week. No yippee!!

0 Ballerina Georgia

Georgia really, really wanted to take ballet like Leighton, so we signed her up at St. Martin's this year. Yesterday was her first day, and when I picked her up, it was obvious she had dressed herself! Her teacher was pretty impressed that she was able to do it at all...even if it wasn't entirely correct! That's our Georgia...fiercely independent! Man those dimples are cute!

0 First uniform day

Monday was Leighton's first official, full-uniform day! She looks so darn cute in her dress uniform, and it makes getting dressed in the mornings quite easy. Check out the carpool line for pickup at school:

Georgia and I have been waiting about 30 minutes every day! Thankfully, we have the DVD player to keep Georgia entertained, because it is tough just sitting in one spot not moving. We get so excited when we see Leighton walking out to the car!

1 Leighton's first day of Kindergarten

Today was Leighton's first day of Kindergarten at St. Francis Episcopal Day School. She will be wearing a uniform there, but this week is Howdy Week, and they are wearing their favorite vacation shirt. She chose her New Orleans t-shirt. That is her uniform skirt, however.

 This is her new, big girl backpack! We had to get one big enough to hold everything she's going to be taking and bringing to class. She chose purple!

This is definitely a big adjustment for us! Having the girls at two different schools, starting at different times, is going to be a challenge. Leighton's school starts at 8:00 a.m., so we have to leave her by around 7:30 to get her there. Georgia gets dropped off between 8:30 and 9, so for now, Chad is taking Leighton to school and I'm taking Georgia. (Georgia is only going three days a week.) Leighton's school ends at 3:10 p.m. and Georgia's ends at 2:30, so that work out alright.

Leighton and I went yesterday to orientation at school and we got to meet her teacher, Ms. Petty, as well. Her classroom is adorable and her teacher seems very nice and warm. There are 18 kids in her class, the same as preschool. Leighton was shocked she only has ONE teacher! Ha! I told her when you get to be a big girl, you only have one homeroom teacher. I know Art is in there somewhere...but not sure where. Chad took her this morning and said there were no tears...she kissed him and hopped out of the car! (Another change...we no longer get to walk her in to class!) Of course, after they left the house, I had a few tears! I am so excited for her though, and I can't wait to hear about her first day!

0 Georgia the fish

We tried to start Georgia in swimming lessons at the beginning of the summer, but she got an ear infection and had to stop. Where we take the kids, they have to go every day for 2 weeks the first time they start. So it is quite a committment, and much easier to do over the summer. Last week, it finally worked out that we could try again.

Georgia was super excited to start swimming, and she loves her teacher, Mr. Taylor. He is very sweet with her and it is obvious he is very good with children. Georgia was having a blast right up until she had to go under water, around Day 3. She was NOT a fan of that, and she cried and screamed, and then cried for several more swim classes. I was actually surprised, because not much scares Georgia the Brave, as I call her.

Today, she was back to her happy self. Not scared of going under water anymore! I am so relieved. She's doing so good at swimming too!

0 Jesus loves me

Georgia was singing to me from her Bible the other day and the sweetest song came out of her mouth. I wrote the words down right away so I wouldn't forget:

0 Pedicure party

Our friend Ava had her 6th birthday party last week, and she took her friends to a nail salon for pedicures. I was the only other mom besides Ava's mom who got to go (we took my car so we could fit all the girls in one car). It was a small group, which was perfect, and they all got cute little pedicure flip flops before we went.

They took over the salon (I'm sure the ladies there getting pedicures were not thrilled to see us walk in!) They had a blast picking out wild and crazy colors for their toes.

Both my girls wanted blue polish!

I can't believe our little girls are all turning 6 already. I held Ava the day she was born and now she's such a big girl!

I thought it was really sweet that Ava and Shelly included Georgia in the party. She loves playing with the big girls, and they all love treating her like a little baby.

The ladies thought it was hilarious that Georgia was too short to have her feet go in the water!

Georgia loved the massage part of the pedicure. She also thought the lotion used on her legs was Cool Whip, and she tried to eat it.

Leighton ended up with blue and yellow toes, and Georgia had all blue. Too cute!

After pedicures, we all headed to Mia's for dinner and cupcakes. It was the perfect celebration!
