0 Happy Fadder's Day!

The girls and I have been working on Father's Day for several days. We have had fun keeping "secrets" from their Daddy. We decorated a poster for Chad with stickers of a lot of his favorite things on it, including hunting, fishing, and barbecuing.
I also had the girls answer a series of questions about their Dad. I filled out Georgia's for her, but Leighton wanted to write her answers herself. (That was a project in itself!) Their answers are hilarious...especially Georgia. She definitely was associating purple and Chick-fil-A with her Daddy!
Leighton was on strike this morning as far as taking pictures went, but I got an adorable picture of Chad with Georgia.

We went to Americas for Father's Day brunch, and Chad is now getting a 2-hour massage. I think he's had a lovely day.

And Happy Father's Day to MY Daddy! I love you!

0 We are fancy

It happens many days and nights that I am forced to put on a fancy dress and high heels so we can play princess and queen here at the house. The girls love to play dress-up, and they love to get me dressed up too. Tonight Georgia came running in to the room I was in and said "Let's get FANCY!" She took me by the hand and dragged me to my closet.

Uncle Pete would be thrilled to know that often when we get fancy, we speak with a British accent. Leighton is actually really pretty good at it!
Just looking at these pictures of Georgia...it has hit me like a brick: she's getting BIG! Wow. And dare I say she is absolutely beautiful, inside and out!!

0 Sisterly love

It makes me so sad when Leighton and Georgia argue, which is every day. They fight over sharing, over what to watch on TV, what to eat, what to wear. You name it, they fight. But there's also lots of love. They have a big ol hug-fest when we go to bed at night. They hold hands and kiss. And last night, I busted them snuggling on the sofa! Georgia had actually fallen down earlier and cried quite a bit, and I noticed Leighton had put a blanket on her and snuggled up and was rubbing her back and being really, really sweet. I watched them for the longest time, and finally shouted "I HAVE TO TAKE A PICTURE!"

0 Backyard fun

The weekend of Grandma's funeral, I stayed at my parents' house and Chad took the girls and stayed at his parents' house, which was really helpful and wonderful to have them THERE but not at every event for Grandma. (Thank you Nonny and Granddaddy, for taking SUCH good care of them!) I missed the girls terribly, and I was so happy to see them when Chad brought them over Sunday morning before we headed back to Houston. For some reason, probably all the outdoor toys, the girls always want to go outside in the backyard. I don't know how this came about, but Leighton ended up in her swimsuit with the hose going after Granna!

Georgia cried and cried because she wanted to play too, although we didn't have her swimsuit with us. We finally convinced her that her birthday suit was even better.
I crack up when I look at this picture. My mom gives Georgia the hose, and then makes a run for it, because you just know when Georgia has control of the hose SOMEONE is going to get very, very wet!

I giggled watching Georgia. She had no control over the hose. It looked like it was really heavy for her to hold, so she was just swaying and the water was just going all over the place.

She even got herself in the face!
It was nice, after a long weekend of crying and remembering Grandma, so have some fun and enjoy the laughter of these two sweet girls.

1 Playing with the Kings

I am so behind! Still from Memorial Day weekend...Saturday night, we all headed to Bigz, a fun burger joint in San Antonio that has a huge outdoor play area for kids. I took the girls once before, so I had a better idea of what to expect. Namely, I made sure we had our own bouncy balls to play with because they love it and it's a bummer when you don't have one of your own. Leighton and Halle had a blast running after each other, with Georgia trailing behind.

Lance (Karen's son and Heather's brother) was also in town for a flag-football tournament. The girls had extra fun running around with him!

I could not believe my eyes when I saw Leighton FULL ON TACKLE Halle! Straight up! My sweet little girl was taking Halle down to the ground. (They were both giggling like crazy, so I don't think anyone got hurt.) I have to say, I truly enjoyed watching Leighton and Halle play all weekend. I hope we can get these girls together more often.
What can you say about Uncle Walter? EVERYONE loves Uncle Walter. Everyone. And Leighton is no exception. She was drawn to him the whole time we were there. Walter is clearly an awesome Grandpa because he never tired of Leighton and had her smiling from ear to ear!
These bathing beauties were SO dirty after our night running around at Bigz, we had to give them a bath. Leighton usually doesn't like taking a bath with anyone (she tolerates Georgia), but of course she had fun with Halle!

1 Fara's Baby Shower

We drove to San Antonio for Memorial Day weekend to attend a very special baby shower given for Aunt Fara! She's due July 4, and we are all SO stinkin' excited to have a new cousin and niece or nephew. We stayed at the Ferguson house, and had a blast with Chad's Aunt Karen and Uncle Walter and cousin Heather and her daughter, Halle (who were also staying there). Leighton and Halle hit it off big time, so we enjoyed watching them run around and play.

Saturday morning was the shower, and I took the girls with me so everyone could see Nonny's current grandchildren. Fara Skyped (that's video-called, for non-techies) via computer, so we all were able to see her face and her adorable baby belly!

This cake not only looked adorable, it tasted AMAZING! I think Leighton had about four pieces!
I was so tickled watching Nonny "carry" Fara around the party. Fara's friend Crystal and I said it was sort of like Fara was a teeny, tiny little midget in Nonny's hand (ha ha). Seriously though, how lucky are we to be in this day and age where Fara could virtually be at a party in another country!
I thought it was so neat so many relatives came in from out of town. Nonny's Aunt Edna came in from Austin with her daughter-in-law Yvette and granddaughter Megan.
Of course, Heather and Karen were there:

Halle and Leighton had a blast. They were definitely Nonny's little helpers when it came time to open the presents! They stood and assisted everyone as they opened their gifts to show Fara.
Yeah, that's right. I made Chad come. I mean, I thought it would mean a lot to Nonny for at least one of her children to be there in person, right? Everyone was so happy to see Chad (including Georgia).
Fara received a ton of helpful, thoughtful, sweet gifts. It made us all even more excited for the arrival of the baby.

After the party was over, the girls had a blast running around outside and rolling in the grass. I didn't get a picture of it, but at one point, Georgia took off her dress and diaper and was running around completely naked. (In her defense, she had spilled water on her dress and down her diaper.)
