1 Dad's Hoedown

Leighton's school had a lunch for all the kids and their dads on Friday. Unfortunately, Chad was in Utah skiing, so I stepped in and took Leighton. She didn't really get that it was for dads, thankfully, but she sure had fun being all dressed up like a cowgirl and seeing her friends.

We sat at a table with Leslie and Gordon (Leslie was playing dad as well), Cutt and Ava, and Randy and Skylar.

This is me saying "Where's Leighton's dad?"

After lunch, Leighton wanted to go by her classroom, which was empty because they had early dismissal from school. But we played a bit and I got to see some of her artwork from Valentine's Day on the wall:

Leighton wore this cute outfit to Fara's rehearsal dinner in April of last year. The skirt is SO CLOSE to not fitting anymore, but I'm glad we got at least one more wear out of it. She was quite a hit at the school...lots of moms eying her little getup enviously, I could tell!

0 Teeth

I wasn't sure if I'd gotten a good picture of Georgia's two little bottom teeth, but this one is pretty good. I swear her top two front teeth are going to bust through ANY moment now!
I should mention Georgia has just advanced in leaps and bounds recently with new tricks:
  • If I say "Yay" she claps.
  • When she hears "bye bye" she waves.
  • She can say mum mum and nanana (for banana).
  • When I say "Daddy's home" she says dada and runs to the back door.

1 Run, Georgia, run!

Georgia has taken to playing games with us lately. She loves to run away from us when it's time to put on pajamas or take a bath. She gets a huge grin on her face and takes off, looking back to see if we are following. Last night, she took off down the hall with her pajamas half on.

Another game she likes to play now: pretend she's giving me something and then she pulls her hand back at the last second. Georgia's definitely starting to sprout a little personality lately, and as far as I can tell, she's pretty fun-loving.

0 Band-Aid breakthrough

Leighton has always loved band-aids and enjoys putting them on, but she NEVER has put them on an actual boo boo. Until last night. I couldn't believe it. She fell down on the sidewalk and had just a minor little scratch. I asked her if she wanted a band-aid, never thinking she would actually say yes. But she did, so we hurried to the bathroom, selected just the right one, and slapped that puppy on. Then she milked her injury for all it was worth.

She told me she was sick and unable to walk, so she scooted around the house for about 30 minutes. I believe she has healed now though, because I had to remind her about the band-aid this morning!

1 Ouch

You can hardly tell in the pictures, but Georgia fell down yesterday and scraped her forehead. Poor thing. Thankfully, when she hurts herself (which is a lot) she doesn't cry very long.

I saw Georgia do this and it totally looks like she's doing yoga, right? Leighton loves to exercise with me, maybe Georgia is picking up on some moves too!

1 Fun with G

Georgia and I had fun playing yesterday afternoon. I begged Leighton to come in and play with us (for many reasons, but a big one was that they had on matching dresses and I wanted a picture), but Leighton refused to join us. Late afternoons/early evenings are a tough time around here. I'm making the girls' dinner, Leighton is beating up on Georgia, everyone is tired and cranky. But there's also a lot of fun to be had.
I'm pretty sure Leighton has NEVER tried to climb on top of this piano. Georgia tries several times a day. I have a feeling this is an accident waiting to happen.
Georgia is playing peek-a-boo here. I hid in the tee pee and she kept walking away and then finding me. We had lots of laughs.

At some point, Leighton couldn't stay away from all the fun we were having in the playroom. Sadly, from the moment she came in, she pushed and rolled on Georgia.

Leighton had a time out in her room right after this. It was about the third time she had rolled on top of Georgia after I told her not to.
Georgia climbed up on this little chair that Leighton has NEVER climbed on. And of course, shortly after, she fell down.

Love this kid! Look at this happy little thing. She loves to roll around on the floor and I tickle her sides and give her lots of smooches on those chubby little legs.

Last night after this little play time, I set the girls in their chairs at the table for dinner. Georgia immediately vomited what I guess to be everything that she had eaten all day long. All over the place. As I frantically cleaned that up, she pulled on her place mat and dumped her dinner all over the floor. Leighton was highly entertained with the whole situation, as was Georgia (who appears to be feeling just fine). I guess I'm a seasoned mom now, because I didn't freak out at all and just systematically cleaned the entire mess. However, I was THRILLED when Chad walked through the door.

0 Little miss pointer

Last week, I had to go out of town for work, just for two days, but when I came back, Georgia seemed to have a new trick. We were standing in the kitchen and she walked over to me and pointed at me. Then she walked over to her pink car she likes to ride in and pointed at it. Clearly indicating she wanted to go for a ride. Then she just started pointing all over the place. Here! There! No there! It's hard to keep up with what she wants as it changes every second. But it's sure fun to have her "talking" to us.

1 Happy Valentine's Day

It was a wild week last week, and I wasn't home for much of it. So unfortunately, I didn't get Valentine's cards out to our families. Please forgive, and know we love you all VERY MUCH!
