1 Sight words....check!

Since the beginning of school, Leighton has been receiving lists of 10 sight words at a time. Her task is to work on them with me at home, learn how to recognize them, and learn how to spell them. When she's able to accomplish both, I send a note to her teacher telling her she's ready to be checked by her. When she passes that check, she receives the next list of words. Each time they master one list of words, they color in a scoop on an ice-cream cone, representing their progress. It's been so fun working on these words and helping Leighton spell and write them. And she's always thrilled to show off her new ice cream scoop when she colors one in.

The goal was for the kids to pass 30 words a quarter, and Leighton way surpassed that! Today, she completed all 100 sight words!  She finished her ice-cream scoops! We are so proud of her!I told her when this happened, we would go to dinner anywhere she chose, and she has picked Carrabba's. We are dressing up now to go...pictures will be taken!

0 Georgia's school Halloween party

Georgia was sick the whole week of Halloween with a sinus infection, but on her party day, I took her up to school so she could be at her party (she wasn't contagious). I enjoyed seeing her quote for the day from the previous week. Mainly because it was not true...Georgia pretty much dresses herself every day. I do help her pick dresses out, but she can put on hose, shoes, dresses, shorts, jeans...it's pretty amazing! Miss Independent, I call her.

 Georgia was loving showing off her ladybug costume. She does make an adorable ladybug!

 Her class did bowling with pumpkins in the hallway, and I was scared Georgia was going to smash a pumpkin into someone's face, but she rolled it perfectly.

 I am making the face that represented how Georgia felt during the party. Boo hoo. She just didn't feel great. Wouldn't even smile for a picture! But I still think she was happy to go and not miss out on the fun.

0 Halloween party

We went to Lara and Randy's annual Halloween costume party last Friday night, and we all got decked out in our costumes. This year, Leighton was Pocahontas, and she never wavered on being that. (In past years, she's changed her mind several times!) Georgia was a ladybug, and she also was pretty determined to be a ladybug and nothing else! I made Leighton's headband...impressed, anyone? I felt super crafty! She had a little headband that came with her dress, but it didn't have the feathers she was wanting, so we took a few trips to Michael's and got some Indian decorating supplies.

I am so tickled that I was Snow White. Mainly because I tried to talk the girls out of being princesses the past couple of years because I thought it was not original enough. And then here I am being a princess! But in my defense, it was one of the few "not naughty" costumes at the costume store. I took a tutorial on styling Snow White hair, and voila!

This adorable monkey, Abby Grace, was at the party last year, and she made her return this year. Last year, she totally freaked me out, but this year, we made friends.

How cute is that? She ate a Cheeto and sat on my lap!

Of course, it is totally true that the movie Outbreak was on last week, and I caught the end of it, where they are catching the cute little monkey with the deadly disease killing humans. Thankfully, Abby Grace didn't maul anyone at the party!

The Richardsons came as Magnum PI and a geisha. Chad was a referee, but I didn't get a picture of him! Boo!
