2 Target dancing

A few weeks ago when my mom was here, we got up early Sunday morning to go to Target. I sat in the scooter and had fun rolling around the store. My mom had Leighton in the shopping cart, and boy did they have fun over in the Christmas area! Leighton was dancing to the music and pointing at the Christmas trees and ornaments. She loved it. I love how at the end of this video she sees me with my camera phone and says "Smile!"

3 Strollin'

Leighton loves her new stroller. We took it for a spin outside this evening and she was just walking up and down the street with it. We had to pause for a smooch (I could get in trouble for doing this because I am NOT supposed to bend over but I can't resist).
Alright, alright. I've been asked by a few people for a belly shot. Here it is...me at 28 weeks.

0 Santa came early

I am terrible at having a present for someone and NOT giving it to them. Unfortunately, I have finished most of my Christmas shopping already (just in case I'm on bed rest in December) and I've had a hard time holding on to this adorable baby Maclaren stroller for Leighton. Tonight, she was trying to push HER stroller around the house and she got very frustrated because it's obviously too big for her. So I decided to resolve the problem by busting out one of her Christmas gifts. I'm happy I did!



On another note, we FINALLY have started on the new baby's room. We had it painted today. It's pink, like Leighton's room, but a much darker and brighter shade of pink. I love it! Chad just kept saying he can't believe he has two pink rooms in his house (I think he secretly loves it).

2 Counting

I was sitting on the sofa last night and Leighton suddenly started counting crayons. She went all the way to 10...and then kept going. You can tell because I'm not sure when to say "hooray!" I had my phone right next to me, so I took this video. We particularly love the way she says three: sree.

0 Oink

Well, we just finally got Leighton the H1N1 shot (also known as swine flu vaccine). My doctor's office has received few shipments, but I just happened to call today at a time when they'd just received more so we bolted to the office to get it. Of course I'm a little nervous about the whole thing, although I've read all the reports about how safe it is. But still...we had to act so fast today I didn't really have time to think about it.

Leighton cried when she got it but recovered quickly with a cherry lollipop. Unfortunately, she also had to get the second shot of her regular flu vaccine too, so she dropped the lollipop and cried some more. She's fine now. We're home and she's asleep.

Now it's on to finding the shot for me!

1 Just an average day...

Leighton likes to look at pictures of herself on our computers. She used to just look, but now she bangs on the keyboard and plays with the mouse. We have to keep a close eye on her so she doesn't do any permanent damage!
Leighton is still attached to baby girl and baby boy. It's funny...she always asks for both of them but when we give them to her, she hands baby boy back.
I got Leighton some leggings over the weekend and I thought she looked too cute in these striped ones!
This is accidentally an action shot of Leighton tripping and falling. I was taking a picture of her walking, but she tripped on one of her toys and fell. Pretty good shot if I do say so myself!
Ok, so when I was growing up I had a collection of Madame Alexander dolls. A lot of them. My only beef with them was that I wasn't supposed to play with them. Of course now they are all in perfect condition, so I guess that ended up being a good thing. I brought a couple of the miniature dolls here to put in Leighton's room. Problem: She has found them AND she wants to play with them. So I let her! Mom, are you horrified?

1 27 weeks

I haven't updated on Baby Fergie in a while, although that's a good thing because it means everything is moving along normally.

I'm 27 weeks today and I've been going to the doctor every two weeks. At my last appointment (two weeks ago), I had finally gained some weight: five pounds! I told the nurses that it's all going to pile on now. It's true: At today's appointment, I'd gained another three pounds. I had my glucose tolerance and anemia test last time, and I found out today that I had perfect results on both. My blood pressure has been awesome (110/70 today), which is MUCH different than it was when I was pregnant with Leighton (140/100). My cervix is holding strong, so no bed rest yet. Overall...things appear to be going very well this time. It's possible I'm calmer because I know what I'm getting into and I'm used to the high-risk OB now. And it's also possible that every pregnancy is just different.

Today, I saw Baby Fergie sticking her tongue out. So cute! One plus to having to go to the high-risk OB every two weeks is that I do get ultrasounds every time and it's fun to see her. The pictures I get aren't so cute anymore...she's gotten so big that we get pictures of a stomach or her face, but it looks like a skeletal pirate. So I won't post those. She did weigh 2 pounds, 5 ounces today. It's strange to think Leighton weighed just over 3 pounds more than that when she was born.

She moves around all the time...especially after I drink a root beer. I haven't felt any hiccups yet...Leighton used to get them all the time--to the point that it worried me. I think once again Ferdie (the cat) can tell there's something going on in there because he's super snuggly with me and likes to sleep right next to my belly.

I've got about 10 weeks to go. We figure this baby will arrive around when Leighton did because once my stitch is removed, out the baby comes. I've already warned Chad that we HAVE GOT to get started on the baby room this weekend. Which basically means I am going to sit in a chair and order him around because I can't lift anything. Should be fun for both of us!

2 Catching up

Ok, I got behind on my blogging. For one thing, I've been busy. And another, we've been having some computer problems on the computer I upload my photos on, so my hands have been tied. But I'm back!

So last week, Chad went to Colorado for a good friend's wedding (Amy Connelly --congratulations!) and I stayed here with Leighton because my doctor wouldn't let me go. However, my doctor also has restated that I am NOT to be alone with Leighton, not to pick her up etc. So I had to have some help. Our nanny Angela stayed and put Leighton to bed Wednesday night, which was awesome because Leighton loves Angela and is very comfortable with her. Then Thursday, Uncle Brad surprised us with a visit. I think out of all of our family, he's seen Leighton less than anyone else due to his work schedule, so I was thrilled for him to come. Also, I love being with him so I was happy to have his company. He cooked us dinner and he and Leighton played it up!


I only got two pictures. Now that I'm sort of restricted in my movements, it's hard for me to get up and run and get my camera all the time. But we had a lovely visit. Brad even got to go with us to the pediatrician's office. Leighton had this rash on her neck that would come on go and I finally decided we should check it out. Turns out it's eczema. Common skin condition in kids. Basically we can put Cortaid on it and moisturizer.

Friday afternoon, my mom came for the weekend and Brad went home. Now it's good to have my momma here taking care of me. I need someone to take care of Leighton AND me! And she's the one. I got no pictures of them, which makes me sad. But Leighton loved having Granna here and she was sad when she left.

But she sure was happy when dada came home! I was too! Leighton was a little off her game with him gone. So I was glad to have him back so we could get back to our daily routine.

We've had HORRIBLE amounts of mosquitos outside lately. Leighton is covered in bites even though we put repellent on her. She got a few big bites right on her eye too. Poor girl! I think it looks better here but she looked like Rocky Balboa the morning after she got bit.
She was saying "cheese" here. She also has started saying "smile" when I get my camera out. Now she isn't necessarily following her own orders of smiling, but it's neat to see that she gets what we're doing.
Ok, adorable dress, right? It's another one I got from Orient Expressed and even though it's a little big, I am putting it on her. Especially now that she's walking all over the place, the length doesn't seem to matter.
Here's another "cheese" moment. I have a feeling we're going to be getting this expression a lot when we're trying to get her to smile.
I mentioned she's walking now. Everywhere. And not holding hands. I am so relieved and excited. I love hearing her little feet walking around the house. Plus, it's handy for me to give her something to go give her daddy so I don't have to get up! We've already got her working for us.

A few days ago she got in our pantry and somehow got flour all over her face. It was so funny! I guess we have really and truly hit the age where we need to do a little childproofing around here.
She's attached to her baby again. Actually, now she always wants this baby and her little Dora twin babies. I know we should give them names, but she calls them baby boy and baby girl, so I don't want to mix things up.
Leighton kept pulling her bows out the other night, so Angela tried a little rubber band to get her hair out of her face. I was cracking up! I mean, obviously I wouldn't take her out in public like this, but it's just too cute.
Ever since Chad went to Colorado, Leighton has been extra needy of her mommy. She tackles me with hugs and demands kisses. I LOVE it. She really is such a sweetheart. It IS a little rough that she is so attached to me only because I can't pick her up or play with her the way I normally would. It's gotten really tough now that she's on the move...and I'm less and less on the move. It's just for a couple more months and then we'll have another sweet girl in our family, so it's for a good cause!

1 Trick or Treat

We started getting ready last night just before 4 p.m., and it wasn't looking so good for a moment...
But once Leighton got dressed, she was good to go. No kitty ears for her though! I wore them in hopes that she would see how cute they were, but she didn't go for it. But many people commented on how we were coordinated, so that works for me.
We went to our neighborhood block party and Leighton had a ton of fun. There were probably about 20 or more couples with kids and toddlers and babies all over the place. We had lots of food, juice, and fun! Leighton and our next-door neighbor Molly were both kitty cats, so we tried to get a picture of them together. I've realized it's always hard to get two kids to smile at the same time.

There was also a little bouncy house at the party, and Leighton had it all to herself for a while. She really enjoyed just poking her head out the front and then going back in.
She also kept mashing her face up against the walls. It was tough getting pictures of her the whole night because she was always on the move.
Her hair experienced some major static electricity. It looked hilarious!


There were all kinds of toys, scooters, and strollers everywhere, and Leighton helped herself to all of them. I will admit, it was sort of madness trying to keep track of her the whole time. Chad and I took turns watching her, but it was a tough job.

We left the party around 6 p.m. and did a little trick-or-treating with the Murphys. We really did about 4-5 houses. Leighton had no clue what she was doing, but I was happy to get an assortment of candy.


Last picture of the night! She was exhausted from all the fun, and so were we. We got home and were barely able to feed her dinner before she fell asleep. I think I was out by a little after 9 p.m. too. We had a great time watching Leighton have a great time. She's such a kind-hearted little girl it's just a pleasure to be around her! Happy 2nd Halloween sweet girl!
