1 Georgia, T-ball player

This spring, Georgia is playing t-ball through Second Baptist. Leighton played soccer through Second Baptist a couple of years ago as well. What we love about this is that the practices are 30 minutes before the game. So, Saturdays, we have practice, and then the game. And that's it. I appreciate that it is age appropriate! We got with a bunch of friends of Georgia's, and so we have an all-girls team...and she knows everyone on the team. So she's having a BLAST and looks forward to going. Sadly, we have had two rainouts the last two weekends in a row. It looks like sunny skies this weekend though!

How cute is Georgia in this uniform? We love the pink t-shirts. The team name is "Pink Birds." The girls have caught on pretty quickly, and the games are lots of fun (joyous) to watch.

Georgia does not like the hat...so she usually takes it off pretty quickly.

Georgia hit the crap outta this ball! We were so proud of her. I definitely get the sense she is going to be strong at sports!

Leighton loves going to the games because she plays with all the older sisters of the girls on Georgia's team.

The girls in the "outfield" are really good and aggressive at going after the balls after the other team hits. They all just dogpile on it!

How fun Georgia is with Bridget, Louise Caroline, and Zoe. Those are her closest little friends.

We are looking forward to the next game this Saturday!

1 Leighton lost her 8th tooth!

Leighton has not lost a tooth since I was gone for my birthday weekend, but she's had a tooth that has been mildly loose that we've been watching. This past Wednesday, Leighton said her stomach hurt, so I let her stay home from school. It didn't really seem like she was in much pain, but I understand the need for a break every now and then. However, she hardly ate anything all day. That evening, I figured out why! Her tooth was dangling from the roots. (I believe in professional terms, this was her top left lateral incisor.) When Leighton's teeth get really loose, she FREAKS OUT. She was so scared to go to sleep that night because she didn't want to swallow her tooth. She didn't eat dinner. She was a mess! We finally got her to fall asleep, and I hope we would wake up to her tooth having fallen out overnight. But it didn't. So after barely eating breakfast, we sent her off to school.

I was THRILLED to see this when I picked her up!! The nurse gives the kids this handy necklace when they lose their tooth at school...so they don't lose it. Yay!

Leighton said her tooth just fell right out when they were in the computer lab. She said everyone in class crowded around her and got very excited. What a thrilling day! She was in a much happier mood, so we celebrated with some ice cream at TCBY.

I tried several times to get a picture of her REGULAR smile, but she wouldn't let me have it!

So Georgia said she would do a "regular smile" for me instead. Sweet girl!

Right before she went to sleep last night, Leighton said she hoped the Tooth Fairy would bring her another Barbie. How lucky was she this morning to discover Rainbow Hair Barbie by her bed!!! She was so excited!

The Tooth Fairy also left this sweet little note:

Grandpa tells me that should be all the loose teeth for a little while. Whew! That Tooth Fairy sure has been busy this year.

0 Girl Scout Flapper Dance

On February 22, Leighton's Girl Scout troop had their annual Father/Daughter dance, and this year's theme was Flappers. I was out of town for the Hippie themed dance last year, and I felt like Leighton's costume could have been better. So this year, I prepared well in advance, and I ordered this cute dress for her. We also picked up some sparkly high heels, threw on a long neckalce, and curled her hair. I thought she looked PRECIOUS!! It's amazing how different she looks with wavy hair!

 

Kyra and Tasia thought she looked awesome too. Georgia was already preparing for Easter with those cute bunny ears.

Chad also put some effort into his costume this year. I was so proud of him! He and Leighton were quite a pair.

 

 

 

They had a lot of fun at the dance, and they even competed in the dance competition. Georgia and I stayed home and watched the Oscars together. A lovely night for us all!

1 Easter 2015

The week before Easter Sunday, Georgia had her Easter party at school, which included lunch and an egg hunt. I signed up to bring the dessert, and I asked Georgia what she wanted to bring. She wanted cupcakes with bunny marshmallows. So we went for it! We assembled the cupcakes the day before, with Peeps in the middle and jellybeans surrounding the Peeps. I think they looked adorable!

The moms went out on the playground to hide all the eggs, and the kids were lightning-fast finding them all. It was nearly impossible to get a picture of any of them on the hunt. Georgia was done within seconds!

I cannot say enough how fun it has been to be in Harry's class this year. We get to see him every day, and Leslie and I help keep up with everything going on. I'm going to miss that next year!

We're also going to miss a lot of our friends in class. Louisa Caroline is such a sweetie, and she and Georgia LOVE each other. The good thing is Louise Caroline lives next door to Harry, so I have a feeling we will stay in touch. That's the hard thing with the way schools work in Houston...after preschool, everyone scatters to public and private schools all over town.

Nonny came Easter weekend to be with us, and the girls had so much fun with her! They went to see Cinderella, and Nonny even babysat Saturday night so Chad and I could go out to dinner with friends. The girls loved having Nonny here, and I know Nonny enjoyed being with them too. Easter morning, Georgia was awake and ready to rumble! Leighton, on the other hand, was very sleepy and grumpy! She stayed up late the night before because she was SO EXCITED about the Easter Bunny coming. I guess she needed to sleep a little longer, because she was NOT excited about anything. She didn't even hunt for Easter eggs! Boo hoo!

As always, the Easter Bunny was very generous with the girls and went over the top with fun little gifts and candy.

Ferdie is still alive and kicking and spending more time in that part of the house with us. We enjoyed his company on Easter morning.

Both girls have been doing exercise DVDs with me lately, and they wanted their very own exercise clothes. The Easter Bunny delivered!

Georgia hit the jackpot with the egg hunt, seeing as how they were ALL hers. There must have been close to 70 eggs!

We were thankful that the predicted rain showers began right AFTER we hunted eggs. Whew! That was a close call. We headed to church and Georgia was giddy to see Ainsley, who is in her class at school. They ran up to each other and hugged and played in the nursery the whole service.

After church, we met Lance at the Brae-Burn Country Club for a little Easter brunch. I will admit, Leighton was in a good mood during lunchtime, which was nice. Because that was about it for her. I love the girls' Easter dresses. I had such a hard time find one this year that looked good on both of them. Georgia can still wear little girl styles, while those styles are starting to look not right on our tall Leighton. So this one was perfect!

What a lovely day, even with Leighton's bad mood. I got a much-needed nap in the afternoon, and when I woke up, several kids on our street were playing in a huge bouncy-house blowup pool that Chad had put in our front yard. Those kiddos played and ran around for several hours while the adults sat in chairs and watched their energy let loose.

We sent Nonny home Monday morning with a bad cough...we're hoping she recovers and gets well soon! Lesson learned for next Easter: put Leighton to bed earlier the night before!!
